Paul Hughes - 2019 CAP High School Prize Winner

Congratulations to Paul Hughes who won the 2019 Canadian Association of Physics (CAP) High School Prize Examination.  Paul won the first prize, which included a cheque for $250.  Paul is student who attends Rouleau School and took Physicis 30 online with Ms. Michelle O"Brien in Semester I.  

The results of the Exam will be used by the National Physics Olympiad organization in their search for potential members of the Canadian team, which will go to the 50th International Physics Olympiad, to be held in Tel Aviv, Israel from 7 th − 15th July, 2019. The top three students overall will receive automatic invitations to attend the 2019 National Physics Olympiad Finals.  Paul is currently waiting to hear if he made the selection for the Canadian team.

This semester, Paul has been taking a Career Work Experience class and spending time at 15 Wing Moose Jaw with two aeronautical engineers. His interests extend beyond to rockets. Paul will attend U of S in Engineering Physics in the fall.

Power Engineering Summer Jobs

SaskPower will be hiring 5th class students from our program.  Students who are currently 17 years old can apply for these positions.  

We currently have a grade 12 student in our 5th Class Power Engineering program in Saskatoon who has been hired for a summer student position.  Elijah Olfert is a student at Nutana Collegiate in Saskatoon who has been hired on at the Queen Elizabeth Power Station this summer.  Elijah has been accepted into the 4th Class Power Engineering Program with Great Plains College in Swift Current this fall.  Congratulations Elijah on your summer employment and acceptance into Great Plains College.
