Cooperating Teacher Expectations

The role of the Cooperating Teacher is to assist students with their online class. This involves:

  • Assisting the student with technical issues. The cooperating teacher may need to enter a ticket in with the IT Helpdesk.
  • Request from the student and/or the online teacher a copy of the course outline and course due dates.
  • Checking in a minimum of twice per week with each online student to see if they are on-track with their course. Ideally the student has the online class scheduled with the cooperating teacher.
  • The online teacher will send the cooperating teacher exams to facilitate and supervise and return when completed.
  • Communicate with the online teacher if something is going on with the student, ex: health or family issues
  • If the student is falling behind make arrangements to have student work at lunch or afterschool supervised
  • If the student is not communicating or doing the required work then Cooperating teacher should involve the school administrator and parents
